Prose Submissions Guidelines

We are excited to be accepting short stories, creative non-fiction, and flash fiction that respond to the theme of “VOICES” – however you interpret it!

-When submitting, please include “Prose Submission [Type]” in the email subject line and send to voicesanthologyuog@gmail.com

-For short stories and creative non-fiction, the maximum word count is 2,000.

-For flash fiction, the maximum word count is 500.

-Please only send one short story or creative non-fiction submission per author.

-For flash fiction, please submit up to two pieces per author, ensuring they are on separate pages in a single document.

-We are accepting both unpublished and published work, as well as work that has been submitted for an UoG assignment! Just please ensure that it is your original work and that you own the publication rights.

-If work has been previously submitted, please include details in the submissions email.

-We would love to know about you! So please include a 50-word bio in the submissions email about yourself. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t been published.

-Please ensure your work includes the title in the header and the page number in the footer.

-Please submit all work in 11-point, double spaced, Arial or Times New Roman font.

-Please submit work in a .doc or .docx format.

-Submissions are to be selected anonymously, so please do not include your name anywhere in the document.

-Transgressive themes and language are welcome under the provision that they are handled with sensitivity and are not used gratuitously.

-Each piece should be self-contained. It can be an extract from a longer work but must be able to stand alone.

-Successful submissions will be contacted within three weeks of the deadline.

-Successful submissions will be given to editors who will liaise with writers and suggest any appropriate edits.
